ReSet, ReFuel, & ReCharge Your Personal Battery

“Recharging your batteries is giving love to yourself and consequently to others.”

We live in a society that promotes the next best thing, the next best event, the next best this, the next best that. While this keeps us future -minded, focusing on what’s next is causing us to miss out on the NOW.

Being still, quiet, and present are not as popular but oh- so necessary if you are to fully enjoy this life you have been gifted. Stories of 30 year olds having heart attacks and individuals battling health complications due to stress are disheartening. These are the types of stories I hope to see diminish. These are also the stories I hope that we all can avoid.

Stress is real because life is real and at times real demanding.  Doctor appointments, client calls, project due dates, meetings, football practice, soccer games, summer camp, galas, and the list goes on and on.

In the midst of the beautiful chaos we call life, we must be intentional about managing stress and find ways to reset, refuel, and recharge our own personal batteries. (If you are introverted, this is especially important because your renewal is dependent upon this. Click here to find out if you are.)

Recharging is not as hard as one may think. Consider some of the ways below, choose one and schedule time to make it happen. You are worth it.

1. Take a bath.

  • When is the last time you took a bath? Draw some water, grab your favorite bubble bath, some Epsom salt, and soak your worries away.

2. Go on a vacation or staycation.

  • Getting away from familiar surroundings is sometimes the best thing you can do to rejuvenate. If you are not able to get away, staycations are always a great option. Your local hotel or AirBNB are always ready to welcome you.

3. Take a stroll in the park or go to the pool.

  • There is nothing like getting outside. Nature has a way of speaking to your soul unlike anything else.

4. Get a pedicure.

  • Gender does not matter here. A good pedicure can make your feet happy and your heart smile.

5. Drink more water or tea.

  • Hydration is important. Water is a necessity and  the right tea works wonders in the body. (I’m a green tea and Rooibos tea fan).

6. Laugh

  •  Go to the movies (Netflix or your local theater), watch your favorite sit com, or schedule time with that friend that craps you up (You know which one). Laughter is good for the soul and somehow mysteriously reduces worries.

7. Take a nap.

  • Rest your brain and take a nap! You need that adult peace session.

You matter so make your selfcare and stress management a priority.
