I don’t know about you,but in my human frailty I make mistakes. As much as I try, I do not always get it right. I am even more cognizant of this because I carry of influence. If you are a leader, then perhaps you can relate.
We humans make tons of mistakes. You forgot to close that door. You should have capitalized that first letter of your sentence. You said the wrong thing at the wrong time or simply made a premature judgement call or moved too soon. Instead of running from life mishaps, I am learning to embrace the lessons they bring. One of those lessons I have learned is that low- cost mistakes or even interruptions can sometimes lead to pleasant surprises and put you in the correct timing.
Have you ever experienced the feeling of being in the right place at the right time? Things just seem to fall into place. It feels like you are winning! As evidenced by the solar eclipse on two weeks ago, some wondrous and once in a lifetime things occur when things line up. This is true in many aspects of our lives. On a car, when the wheels are in alignment, the ride is smooth and focused. When the wheels are not in alignment, you are all over the place.
On the flip side, have you ever been late for an appointment? It seems to throw everything off. You feel disappointed, frustrated or flustered. Whichever side of the coin you’ve been on, there is no denying that timing matters.
Ironically (or maybe not), the Kindle version of Focus: Productive Leadership in Action become available the day of the solar eclipse instead of on August 15 as originally planned. It was not my plan of timing but it was the perfect timing!
Instead of beating yourself up when you experience an oops! moment, embrace it, learn from it, and expect something good to come out of it.
