“We travel not to escape lifebut for life not to escape us.”
The end of February 2018 is already upon us. It seems like the New Year was just here. In the midst of setting and reaching your goals and action items, I want to remind you of the importance of creating intentional moments to press pause. Whether you are an executive, employee, or a dedicated spouse, parent, or caregiver, life puts demands on you. If we are honest, those demands can lead you to burn out if you are not careful and intentional.Being intentional about knowing when you need to reboot and recharge is something that some have mastered while others are still learning. Take some time to get to know you and what refreshes your mind, body, and soul.I recently went on an intentional retreat to San Diego. It was extremely peaceful and insightful – and quite entertaining ( I’ll share that experience in another post). There were some key insights I gained that may be of some use to you.
Travel as frequently as you can.
It pushes you outside of your comfort zone and can even build confidence. I love Cali but this was new territory that wouldn’t typically be my first choice. Many aspects of my trip ended up being a pleasant surprise. This can transfer into other areas in life if you allow it.
Random acts of kindness still work.
Kindness still works, even with strangers, even while traveling. The good you do will come back you.
Find your place of peace and visit as often as you can.
Your place of peace may be in your favorite vacation spot, but it could be a local retreat or your favorite spot at home. You don’t have to break the bank to find and recapture your peace. ( The great thing was that this trip was covered. I just held up to my end of the bargain by attending a timeshare presentation.)
I challenge you to get your calendar, pick a date and a destination, and schedule time to refresh. It is a critical part of staying focused. Should you need some additional help, visit www.iamashleym.com.
If you’re in the Houston area, you’re invited to two different opportunities to get great info on becoming healthier and refueling.
Opportunity #1:The Healthy, Wealthy, Wise Forum. I’ll be joining N.A.P.W. and two other panelists as we discuss ways to amplify being healthier, wealthier and wiser in 2018! Register here on Eventbrite.
Opportunity #2: Focus on Healthy You: Self – Care From the Inside Out. I’ll be hosting this event on March 17, 2018, with a group of dynamic local business owners. Register at the link below.
